So I've got an ACER Aspire 5742 with Intel HD Graphics and have been on many websites and videos that have stated that you can alter the Dedicate Video Ram through the BIOS.
So i have tried to do this, but when i get to the Dedicate RAM, it is blacked out.

Is there any reason as to why i can't change the Dedicated VRAM?

Many computers allow you to change many different options and settings in the BIOS but...
Depending on the company makes it (Acer) and what type of product class it is (Personal, Business, Enterprise) you may find that the BIOS options and settings that you can actually change are few and far between.

Here is what your laptops user manual says about the BIOS:
"Your computer is already properly configured and optimized, and you do not
need to run this utility. However, if you encounter configuration problems, you
may need to run it."

Your system specs sheet says this:
"Intel® HD Graphics with 128 MB of dedicated system memory"
Bottom Line: You can't change the option because changing it is not an option.

Thanks! Shame about not being able to change it though.
