Windows 8 or 7 (both 64-bit) for my gaming build?

I am new to building computers and I wanted to know if most games worked better on Windows 7 than on Windows 8?

I realized this might be a loaded question but I needed some quick guidance. I want to finish ordering my parts tonight.

The games I will play include Crysis, 1,23, BF3, COD 1,2,3 etc.

Thanks in advance.

I just put together a new build using windows 8 64bit. With my 128 gb ssd I seem to be having no issues. Also check out Start 8 http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/ sometimes i forget its even windows 8 =)

Windows 8 is just a "point" upgrade from 7 (i.e., Windows Vista = Windows 6.0, Windows 7 = Windows 6.1, Windows 8 = Windows 6.2). There were some minor changes under the hood, but the biggest is in the user interface. From what I've read, Windows 8 plays games as good as or slightly better than 7, but there's really not much difference.

Check this article out:

There was a game or two that issues running in Windows 8 back in October, when this article was written. Quoting from the conclusion, the article states:

"Aside from those couple of idiosyncrasies, performance under Windows 8 is indistinguishable from Windows 7. Any speed-up or slow-down would be almost impossible to identify during game play, and we expect compatibility issues to get patched quickly by game developers."
