What to know when buying a graphics card

I'm bit of a computer amateur and I was just wondering if thers anything that checks for graphics card instead of memory?BecausGigabyt e I would like to be able to play games like Witcher 2 on high quality but the what I have now is an integrated graphics Which consist of a gigabyte H61 and an Intel I5 3330

I have no idea what I should be looking for when buying a graphics card.

Any tips & advice greatly appreciated.

monitor size/resolution/budget/rest of hardware...... don't forget to list power supply.

+1 to what the above 2 guys said. Some more factors are like if you want to overclock or not, power consumption, specific game etc

Well I live in the Uk and i would want to spend up to 150 pounds on a graphics card that would suit games like Witcher 2, Black ops 2 and assassins creed 3

2gig 6950/7850/7870/gtx660/on up. check local prices. bigger the card, better the performance.

If you want to spend 150 pounds I'd search for a 7850 1GB, it should be possible to find on in this price range.
Will be better than 650Ti.

sorry, the 650 boost but not the 650ti. the ti is worse than the ones listed. stop trying to save money. a video card is too important.

shadow, why would you suggest a 1gig card. see his resolution?

Because it's the best gpu along with 650Ti Boost 1GB in his price range. 7850 / 650Ti Boost 1GB are still better than 7790 / 650Ti 2GB. Though I agree I'd would be best to add few pounds to get 650Ti Boost 2GB.

but even if it would be a 2gb 650 ti and not a 1 gb would that make a difference ?

If you want to play assassins creed 3 above 25fps get an nvidia card. My 7950 wont hardly give playable frame rates on low but a 660 i had with the identical system played much better something like 40fps on med-high. Just a thought on that. I would also suggest a 650ti boost. If you can spend the extra get a 2gb version since some games use a little over 1gb at times.

Didn't know you can get it this cheap, looks like I had underestimated pound value. If you'll be using this shop then get a gtx 660 as suggested above, it's better than both 650Ti Boost and 7850.
