I've got asus radeon 5450 1GB GDDR3 (64-bit).
as per faqs, guides, its written that.it has bandwidth of 12.8GBPS. but on my win 7 (32 bit), it shows only 6.6GBps on overclocking. can this issue be.fixed at home? is is.recommended.to run 64 bit graphics card on 64 bit OS?
my specs.are.e5700@3Ghz.
2GB DDR3 ram.
ASUS HS RADEON 5450 1GB GDDR3.
PCI-e (2.0)

Well make sure you have the latest drivers installed & yes 64-bit would be better.

thanks, I have installed latest beta version. but bandwidth on cpu-z interface is struck to 6.6 only, but theoretically its 12.8 GBPS. m getting about half. will.switching to 64bit will fix this? is ati low end card are just crap?

Well there's a reason they're called " low end " cause they're crap haha

IS???
is ot manufacturers fault? or PCI VERSION ENABLED IS causing problems?

I think you are mixing 2 different versions of those cards. The reference 5450s use 128bit memory interface, yours is some cost cutting version with only half of that at 64bit. So there is nothing wrong with your card or the memory bus widht as such, it just really is as low as it is meant to be. Only way to increase the memory bandwidth is to clock the memory even higher... (bandwidth=bus width*memory clockrate)

edit oops my bad, there only are 64 bit versions of this card... so something's off

Don't think I'd be concerned about what CPU-Z is reporting. Win 7-64 is really only helpful if you are running 4GB of RAM or above. If the card is in the right slot and you have current drivers it's probably behaving as it should unless you are having BSODs or artifacting.

What is it NOT doing that you think it should?

m kinda theoretical person. although everything is fine, superb, the cpu z interface.with 6.6GBPS is tickling me.so i can't do anything for this?
I overclocked it from default 650/400Mhz to 830/850Mhz.
highest temp.on full load is 68C. without glithes. what else.can I do to increase it further (bandwidth )

my memory failed me lol, there only are 64 bit versions of this card, so something is reading something wrong...
with the clocks you are using the bandwidth should be alot higher than the stock listed

from amds website http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5450-overview/Pages/hd-5450-overview.aspx#2
"Memory clock speed: 400 MHz DDR2 and up to 800 MHz DDR3
Memory data rate: 0.8 Gbps DDR2 and up to 1.6 Gbps DDR3
Memory bandwidth: 6.4 GB/sec (DDR2) and up to 12.8 GB/sec (DDR3) "

so basically you should be getting like 15GB/sec (13.6 to be exact) bandwidth with those clocks...
download GPU-Z and post a screenshot
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

what's your allowance? $20-$40? seriously that's an old, and outdated gpu... and when it was new it was still a cheap low performing gpu.

You're not gonna get much out of a 54xx series gpu.

small graphics card naming tip for the future.

AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 - the first number is the "generation", the second number is the "power class" of the gpu, the 3rd number is the "ability classification" within that specific power class of the chip, the 4th number isn't used by AMD atm.

Nvidia 480 GTX - the first number is the generation, the second number is the "power class" the 3rd number isn't used... and the GTX at the end designates the "ability classification" within that specific power class of the chip.

in short, when looking at gpus across generations (first number) it's the 2nd number you should be looking at. A "x4xx" series for AMD is basically a budget, energy efficient gpu used only for web browsing or movie watching for the most part. The lowest end "enthusiasts gaming capable" designation in the AMD lineup is the "x6xx" series... though in reality the "x7xx" series is probably as low as you will want to look.

For nvidia "x5x gtx" is probably as low as you should go for a gaming capable gpu.

also understand as time goes on gpus get more powerful... so newer generation cards will show stronger performance (in general) in comparison to older cards in the same "power level"... so a HD 78xx will be stronger/better than a 68xx or a 58xx...

You're assuming that he didn't but the 32bit version (there is one) instead of the 64bit. either way it is what it is, and that card doesn't need the bandwidth anyway" It was NEVER meant for gaming, really just light HTPC use.

He should be absolutely ecstatic or in shock if he's happy with performance in farcry 3 and crysis with that card.

i was about to say this too... that he's able to even play farcry or crysis with a 54xx gpu should be blowing his mind. frankly i wouldn't have thought it would be possible even with all the settings turned to low.

had to check newegg and sure enough, there actually are quite a lot of 32bit versions available.
:pP

edit lol so now I've been wrong twice within 15 minutes, better go get some sleep :D

For reference, m able to play arkham city, prototype 2,darksiders 2, crysis 2, far cry 3, nfs mw 2 all on medium settings with 2X antialiasing.
assasincreed 3 & nfs the run on optimal (medium textures)
I was planning to.replace it with.nvidia one, shall.I? any suggestions (under 44$, thats all. I m left with)

Why, nothing under $44 is going to do any better than what you have now. To play most modern games at full AA and resolution, you need a $500 video card. No way around it.

Be happy you can play the games you have with the settings you have and expect to spend $1000-$1500 to max out today's games for a new PC capable of it.

thanks but m not a hardcore gamer, I m in medical study ,so I spend few hours gaming everyday. will nvidia 610 be fair enough to replace my radeon 5450??
m unemployed student, so can't expect more allowances
