Heyy guys ,
Got a question , what is better for gaming and rendering a CPU or APU ? this would be for a quad core processor by AMD and used with at least 8 GB RAM

Thanks Drew

The APU route will lock you in to the FM2 mobo. The next gen APU will have a new FM3 mobo. If you want something now and can be upgraded. Amazon has the AMD Phenom X4 965 BE for $80 today. That cpu is Tomshardware's best gaming cpu for under $100. Get that and a amd3+ mobo and use them with your 6670. Later get a better gpu and afterwards upgrade the cpu.

Well that would depend on how much you are looking to spend and if you are planning to use a separate graphics card or not.

The APUs run on socket FM2 and have decent integrated graphics if you are on a limited budget.

The FX line uses socket AM3+ and have no integrated graphics so a dedicated card is required.

I would almost suggest getting a quad core A10 5800K APU and using it in dual graphics mode with the 6670. Can always add a better discrete card down the road.

Of course the higher end FX chips (6300 and 8350) will perform better and will be more upgradable, but I'm guessing those chips might be outside of your budget.
