Hi folks,

I am planning to get a GTX 680 Classified card for use with my XPS 8500. I have swapped out the PSU for a CX600 (600W) PSU. I was wondering if this would be enough to power the 680 Classified? Also, any things to watch out for with this card e.g. special cooling requirements etc.? Much appreciate your responses.

It's plenty of power. As long as your case has decent airflow the card should cool fine as well.

ATTENTION
Stop what you about to do - GTX 680 has bios issues with Dell
, it is noted by NVIDIA. Also, XPS 8300 started having those problems and it was carried over to 8500!

Just read this, so you know https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/516311/gtx-680-dell-xps-8300/ XPS 8500 is continuation of XPS 8300. especially in this aspect.
OP can buy what ever he/she wants, but there is big chance of getting stuck with expensive card and broken heart.
And this http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19442678.aspx
This is just a warning, anyone can buy any card blindly, or can look around and choose the one , confirmed to work.

Looks like the Dell has either BIOS or motherboard compatibility issues with the GTX 680 in particular. Another good reason to build your own and not buy OEM.
