Hey guys, I have a problem I simply cannot fix. I have a Verizon issued Actiontec GT704WG that we've had since we got the house about 5 years ago, and just recently the antennae broke on it. My dad couldn't get a signal downstairs, so he bought a Cisco Linksys EA2700 Router to use along with the modem.

Whenever the router is plugged into the modem and working, our network becomes sketchy as hell with ping hopping between 120 and 750. I unplug the router from the modem and poof - ping goes back down to a smooth 34. As far as I can tell, it's not any single piece of equipment on the connection, I've gone through and tried banning each computer/tablet one at a time, and nothing happened.

If anyone has any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks,

You likely have some form of IP conflict. If you can figure it out you want to change the actiontec box to bridge mode from the little I looked that appears to be tough to do. So you wan to run the linksys as a AP. You need to disable DHCP on the linksys, change the ip to something like 192.168.1.2 (depends on what ip is of actiontec)and then cable lan to lan. Be much nice to use the linksys as the main router but that means disabling the features in the actiontec which there seem to be many posts on it being difficult.
