Just built a CPU with Asus Maximus III Gene and Xeon 3430.

Well, to put it simply, it won't boot.

It won't POST. It won't send anything out via the VGA, even with D-SUB, where it goes to "D-SUB POWER SAVING MODE".

A little backgrounder.

I already have a similar system, except the board is a lowend Asrock H55 M and a Corsair VS550. Everything else is the same. That one was setup without a hitch.

This new build:
Asus Maximus III Gene
Xeon 3430
Powercolor HD7750
HEC Cougar 550w
G-Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 4gbX2

I'm thinking it's a mobo issue with the X3430 but I've seen lot's of CPU-IDs with the Maximus III Gene coupled with Xeon 3430s and 3440s.

Also I've read a thread here about a Maximus III Formula working well with the X3430.

So is it a BIOS thing?

If so, what BIOS version should I get?
