I got a problem with my harddrive where it crashes everytime I open it.

I really need help solving a new issue that occured earlier today. I was recording gameplay with Dxtory (I've done this many times before) to a hard drive (Not my boot drive SSD but a 1tb WDCB storage drive) that is basically empty besides my footage. Anyway after I recorded I went to open the files to check it was all good and I tried one and watched it and it worked but when I tried another my PC froze. My computer in around 1 year old and this is the first time I've had to turn it off with the power button. When I turned it back on it took like 10 minutes on the spinning dot things and then it said 'Scanning and repairing drive (E:' (The drive I record to) and is said that for like another 5 minutes and finally got to my desktop and everything was cool but when I went to open the drive again from /Computer there was no bar underneath saying that any space was being used on it. I opened it and my computer froze again so I restarted waited 15 min and tried again. Same thing. Then the third time I left it frozen and half hour later it said something like error in paremeters or something (I dont really have half an hour to check again what it said speciafically). The drive is still detected and its not a hardware issue but everytime I start my PC up it takes 15 minutes and I cannot use the drive because it freezes everytime I open it. Also my computer seems alot slower and stuff like that.

Is there a way I can recover the drive (If I cant keep the files on it I don't mind that much but I would prefer to keep them) Because currently its unusable and lags my PC - plus the slow start time. I cant right click on the drive because it also freezes my computer.

I had a post out before where someone said to run chkdsk/F in the CMD but when I got to change it from C: to E: nothing happens. I tried switching to my other drive F: and it worked so its something wrong with the drive. Whenever I try to open anything related to the drive (even disk manage) it freezes. Is their a way besides disk manage or cmd that I can use to fix this. Like I said even if it means wiping everything off it.

I open the application and it works fine, Then I plug the drive back in and the application doesnt open anymore... It seems everything to do with the drive doesnt work or it has a very complex virus or something that has thought of everything.
