This is probably a dumb question but at the moment I have 2 Radeon HD 6950 2gb cards in my computer using crossfire, my buddy offered to give me his sapphire 7950 3gb card. Is this an upgrade or should I stay with what I have, here are my computer specs:

Gigabyte 970A-D3
AMD FX 8120 3.1 ghz
8gb 1600 corsair vengeance
2 radeon HD 6950 2gb

Heres the exact card hes giving me

stay with what you have....
2x 6950's....my gosh.....

are those beasts troubling you in any game.....
if not, then why do you really DUMB people think of upgrading......????

(a person upgrades his setup when he/she doesn't get the desired performance from his pc.....so old school)

well I'm having problems with the CCC and my crossfire, that's what prompted me to go this route.

then i apologize for calling you dumb.....
you should have told about this problem man....
really sorry/......

well. if crossfire is troubling you then get a local shopkeeper/repairman to look into it.....
if the crossfire's really damaged, then trade in a 7950....

its cool, should have been more clear, I don't think its the crossfire, cards, or the pci e slots, I tested them all out, I'm pretty sure its something with CCC. Anytime I update past 12.10 it blue screens and black screens and I always end up having to force a restart, but if I turn the crossfire off, CCC works perfect.

just tired of spending hours trying to deal with that problem, only solution I found was to use 1 card that's when it came to my attention about the upgrade to the 7950

take the 7950 only if you are getting it for free....

dont take it if you are to pay even a single penny because you wont experience much of an upgrade ....
only about 3-4% practically.....

but for me even a 1% upgrade is a welcome if i get it for free.....lol

+1 armageddon007.
Got a 7950 for Christmas and swapped it for my long suffering and much abused 6950, there is an improvement, particularly with AA enabled, but not enough to spend money (at least not much) on making the change.
But, if it's free ;) .

Also one more question before I swap out my crossfire 6950's for the 7950. with my computer specs will my cpu get bottlenecked, and if anyone that has a similar setup can enlighten me on how there setup performs with games such as crisis 3 and farcry 3, thanks.

Gigabyte 970A-D3 rev. 3.0
AMD FX 8120 3.1 ghz 8 core, water cooled
8gb 1600 corsair vengeance
2 radeon HD 6950 2gb(swapping out for a single Sapphire Flex radeon HD 7950 3gb)
800watt psu
Seagate 2tb HDD (not sure on the speed of it)

you wouldn't see sny kind of bottleneck as you gpu and cpu are both way over the top......(awesome rig, that is)

enjoy crysis 3 on very high with AA set to 4x and enjoy a 35+ frame rate......lol
