Computer Model: HP Pavilion dv6000 (dv6131od)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Network Adapter: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Driver Version: 13.4.0.139

Until Thursday of this week, I was able to connect to the building's unsecured wireless network. I had internet and local for the connection. After that day, while I can still connect to the network on this computer, I cannot get on the internet. The router is a NETGEAR.

On Friday, in order to get internet, I have been using my phone at a wireless hotspot. On this same computer, I can connect to it with no problem. It is a secure network, using WEP encryption.

I thought it may have something to do with the building's wifi. However, other devices are able to connect and use its internet just fine. On this same phone, I can connect to the building's WIFI, and it has no problem accessing the internet using the wireless connection, either.

I have reinstalled multiple different drivers for the wireless adapter, to the latest one I have now. I was able to connect to the network's wireless, but still have the same problem. During one of the reinstalls, I had limited internet for some time (Google Search, Facebook), but could not get on other sites. After a restart, I am no longer able to connect to the internet on this wifi connection.

Another option I have tried is to reset WINSOCK. After doing a "netsh winsock reset" and restarting, my problem still has not been solved.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What particularly got my attention about your problem is that this was working until recently (and presumably you're unaware of any changes). And it's open wifi. And other devices continue to use that open wifi w/o issues.

Is this open wifi you have authorization to use? The reason I'm asking is that it's entirely possible that some admin has LOCKED OUT your computer's MAC address! It would be interesting to see what happens if you spoofed your computers MAC address w/ the MAC address of some other device that continues to work.

As I said before, it is the Wifi for the building. The issue has sense resolved itself, however.
