thank you! and um, what exactly do you mean "use it wisely?" sorry, this will be my very first ssd, im still a cave man

SSD is meant to be used as a boot drive and or a system drive. You should only keep the operating system and main programs on it. Movies, music, documents, etc. should not live in a SSD. Files that you download should also not live on the SSD unless they're programs that you're installing. It's best to keep writes to the SSD to a minimal. Or as little as you can.

Also, do not fill up more than 85% of your SSD's space.

I was planning to use it for my OS and some of my steam games, is it not a good choice to put steam games on there?

Most steam games do not benefit from a SSD. It depends what games you play. Maybe solo games. But if you play with someone else online, there's little difference. Even if you can launch the game first, you may still have to wait for your teammates.

The 840 is a great SSD. I have two of them.

Install whatever you want on them, it's not going to impact lifespan that much.

Steam games are fine, and it will definitely speed up loading times in any game that has them.
