External hard drive

Hi guys i got a WD 1tb Portable hard drive and it loads but it takes forever it takes about 2 minutes to load so i can access my files anything i could do to speed it up its full of music cause i'm a dj

Right click on it in explorer, goto properties / tools and run the error checking. It may be a file system error. Do you have a backup? You might loose, or better already lost some of the files.

Take a look in event viewer next. Any i/o errors in the system log?
