am having a big problem rectifying a wireless network problem I have never seen before. A friend said he lost his wireless connection on his laptop (he has Comcast HSI and a Belkin router. So I went over and was unable to connect through the router...I then hardwired the modem to the laptop and was able to connect. But when I tried to go wireless again, no luck. I brought my router over to his house and was not able to connect to my router either. I then took the laptop back to my house and tried again with my router and it worked without a problem.

Today I went back to his house and tried again with the same router that I connected with at my house with no problem but was not able to connect. I then took his laptop and his Belkin router back to my house and connected immediately. When we went back to his place it wouldn't work!

So the question is...how can 2 routers connected wirelessly to the same laptop work in one house and not the other? I could understand it if I couldn't connect hardwired via ethernet at his house but I could so there is no problem with the modem or the service from Comcast.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Thank you in advance for your help.

IF the modem and the laptop work with your home - then it is clear that the laptop and the modem is functionally ok . The internet service provider which may have some parameter . In some case, ISP - use some filter and some mac address filtering they apply . so in that case you have to contact with that ISP (Comcast) - .
thanks
