Supposedly OCZ has fixed their SandForce driver issues and updated the firmware in Feb '13, according to posts on this forum.

Would this mean I can buy a refurb, and reasonably expect to get an SSD that will pretty much work like a new one, assuming that most refurb's are panic lock- or firmware issue- based RMA's?

Solution
Yes, if your motherboard's BIOS is on its latest version and the Agility 3 is on its latest firmware version then you should be ok.

Make sure you Secure Erase the drive before using it.

I've bought many, many things refurb.

An SSD, probably not. There is a limited number of writes per cell. And unless the refurb process replaces those cells (doubtful), you're buying something with an already limited lifespan.

Unless...the price difference was huge. Like 50% off.

As far as I can tell, number of disk I/Os does not really seem to come into the equation anymore with these modern drives. I'm usually not planning to keep a drive for 10 years.
