Multiple times a day my wifi signal will just randomly drop out. The moment I click on the wifi icon in the system tray, it instantly reconnects. Any idea what could be causing this? Note: Internet does not drop out when connected via LAN cable, only wifi.

Then it would seem to be some interference. Microwave, cordless phone, neighbors wif, rain, building construction.i...

What is the signal strength when it is connected?

My pcie tp-link adaptor would do that too. It turns out it was the windows power setting {ENABLED NEVER} setting resolved it. But USAFRet has merit and will cause problems. What router you got? there are ultilites to log on to it and check & adjust some settings as well as firmware upgrades.

have a netgear N300 ADSL2+ router. firmware is up to date. I heard something about changing the wifi channel. Maybe a neighbor is on the same channel and is interfering. Would this help? and if so how do I change the channel

Actually overlapping channels cause more interference than on the same channel. Either use an empty non overlapping channel, or the same channel as the strongest signals.. remember microwaves, radio waves, bluetooth and more interfere with wifi as well.

Hello,

Since your Wi-fi connection is dropping out, it means the connection is not proper. Check the settings whether your wireless connection is proper or not?
