Sorry, maybe you didn't fail big time but...Your processor choice isn't compatible with your motherboard choice. 2 totally different chip-sets. And you didn't pick out a power supply. This is my choice for a PSU -- http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 .Try linking your choices with newegg.com or use http://pcpartpicker.com/
When your on these websites checking out products, look at the compatibility specifications, it will help you learn it all.

Yes absolutely you can upgrade it to 2x4GB. I believe the board has 4 DIMM slots so you can upgrade to 4x4GB if you'd like.

Well I mean... lol I'll cook one up for you. You sorta need a little crash course on computer making, sorta like I did.

You motherboard is your main component in the computer. It's essentially the nervous system of your PC. That Mobo you got is great, but it's really made for higher end GPUs and $500 Processors. The best beginner Gaming PC I can make you for that price would be good enough to run BF3 on max settings at about 40-50 frames. Which is not bad. However if you are really serious about gaming and want great performance and quality, you'll on average be spending anywhere between $1000 to $1500. Would you be willing to do that? I'll give you my PC for example:

$300 Motherboard Socket LGA1155 z77
$1010 Dual GTX 680 in SLI (two GPUs that run basically as one)
$100 Case
$100 1 TB (1000GB) HDD (Harddrive)
$320 i7-3770k Socket LGA1155 CPU
$120 16GB (2x8GB) RAM
$140 Windows 7 OS
$50 CD Drive Blu-ray
$230 PSU 1050 Watts

All for $2350, just for the Rig.

That is an intense Gaming PC. If I take out 8GB of RAM and a GPU and threw in a 750 watt PSU, its down to $1580 Max. If you drop to a standard GTX 670, then $1460.

If I throw in the ASUS SABERTOOTH z77 Thermal Armor mobo then its down to $1400, and if you want to go with an i5-3570k, which is great for a first time computer builder, then its $1290.

Tada, and that is how you strip down a build and make it more economical, lol.

No Problem, let me just cook one for you, be back in a minute. And as a side note, I don't really like those pre-made things off of this website or other websites, its better from scratch as long as you know what your doing.

Here's the cheapest and best option for what you want to do. If it is anything less, the PC will run like any other PC that you would buy, it would run a game a low settings at like 20-30 frames. This will run those games, mid to high settings at about 50 frames:

Mobo: $135 ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 LGA 1155
CPU: $215 i5-3570k Ivy Bridge
GPU: $190 ZOTAC GTX 660 2GB
CASE: $50 Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower
PSU: $90 CORSAIR TX650
HDD: $60 Seagate Barracuda 500GB
CPU Fan: $35 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
RAM: $68 8GB (2x4GB) CORSAIR VENGEANCE
OS: $140 Windows 7 OS
CD DRIVE: $20 ASUS DVD-RW DVD Burner

$1003

I also got a PSU and Mobo that allow you to add another GTX 660 2GB and run two in SLI and be able to run games at max settings at about 80 frames, that should be perfect for you. If you want to get rid of that, I'll drop down the Mobo and PSU.

UPDATE:
$80 ASRock z77 Pro3 LGA 1155
$55 CORSAIR CX500

With that replaced, now its at $913, however, you may not be able to SLI if you wanted to, if you get the TX650 with that $80 mobo.

Do you want more Graphical Performance, or more Processing performance. Games will run faster if you upgrade from the $1003 to a i7-3770k, then thats up to $1113. Then you can get a $270 GTX 660 ti, which sets it at $1203 with the better mobo.

If you don't see Dual SLI in your future, and you drop down $90 with the lower end mobo and psu, then you'll be at $1113 again, leaving about $90 for any extra, maybe a 2TB HDD for $40 more, and you'll be at $1153.
