Short Circuited Computer?

Hi,
So, I think I may have short circuited my computer. I just booted up my computer and forgot that I didn't put my side panel back on, so I proceeded to put it on. There are these two wires that power my side and rear fan that kinda lay on top of my GPU and have two little metal prongs sticking out of them, and when I was putting my side panel back on, those prongs (picture attached) must of touched my GPU, sparked, and immediately turned off my computer. It smoked a bit and smelled horrid. I tried to turn it on again, but it only boots up for about half a second with all the lights turning on and hard drives and fans attempting to spin, but then fails and stops. I am going to try it again in the morning to see if it just needed time, and am crossing my fingers. Any help you can give me or tips? What did I do presumably? Anything helps, thanks!

OK well that sucks, sorry to hear it.

1 I would remove all parts not needed for use (especially the GPU), so just the motherboard and hard drive and 1 ram stickand CPU/HSF. If that works try the rest of the ram, if that works try the GPU.

2 I have a feeling the GPU may be damaged. If you have another GPU try that one and see if your PCIE still functions.

Just some thoughts, good luck.

Yes, I took out both my GPUs and all my RAM but one stick and unplugged my HDD and SSD and my BRD and DVDD, still didnt boot up. I believe my motherboard is working fine because the green light is still on and bright green. What is happening it appears, is that the whole computer is getting power for a split second then shutting off. Do you think perhaps I blew my PSU? Is that possible? 750W PSU ZT Seriesby OCZ.

And yes I know I shouldn't of had it open with the computer on and I should of had those prongs taped up, rookie mistake.

So I just tried to boot up my computer using my friends PSU which is 550W, while mine is 750W. It didn't seem to work... Do I need to test with another 750W PSU? I wouldn't think so because I took out all my RAM but one stick and removed my two GPUs which should of lightened the load, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I thought so. And yes I did plug it into the integrated, and same result, no scorch marks. I already disassembled my computer and am sending in the motherboard with RMA tomorrrow for warranty, so when I get a replacement and get everything hooked up, I will post back to see what happened!
