I am experiencing in-game stuttering (Far Cry 3), just wondering because of my graphics card do I need a better than stock cooler for my cpu. I have played around with graphics settings in the game and that only makes it worse. I have also updated drivers, etc.

Any advice would me much appreciated!

My PC: Intel i5 3570 (3.40GHz)/stock cooler,
Kingston KVR 8gb RAM ,
Seagate 2TB hdd,
Kingston 120gb ssd,
Asus P8Z77-V-LX Motherboard,
Thermaltake VM600M1W2Z Dokker Tower Case without PSU,
Coolermaster GX Power 650watt PSU

I'm using the 13.5 beta 2 right now and I can confirm that the stutter in FC3 has GREATLY decreased on my HD7950. About *%!#@%! time! I played last night online for about 3 hours and was able to increase my in game settings and did not need to use the RadeonPro tool to smooth out the frames. http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_5_beta_2_download.html

IMPORTANT: Uninstall your current drivers first and use atiman uninstaller, or driver sweeper to clean out the leftover files before installing the 13.5 beta 2 driver. Others have had issues that didn't take these steps, according to the posts in the Guru3d forums.

Thats some good advice sir, thank you for your input but I don't mean online play. Did you get stuttering when playing offline? Because that's what I am talking about. It looks like you have some serious cooling going on in your pc, so I guess my question is: for the AMD Radeon HD7950 must i have better than intel stock fan for my cpu? Or a better cooling system?

And for future reference, what drivers are you talking about when you say uninstall all current drivers? All AMD Drivers or Just the ones related to AMD Catalyst or just all drivers?

Go to the Windows control panel or use the amd uninstaller, and choose uninstallall. Once that is done you restart and run driver sweeper to get rid of the leftover junk from that driver. Then install The 13.5 beta 2 driver. You should be golden then.

Heat should only be an issue if your overclocking really. If your not overclocking than it wouldn't be necessary for aftermarket cooling. What are your CPU/GPU temps under load BTW?

The stuttering was greatly reduced while playing online and in the single player. I still get a tiny, tiny bit of stutter, but barely anything. There are two settings in the game that I set to 1 as well that also helps alot. V-sync and GPU max buffered frames are both set to 1. Hope some of this helps. :)

I don't know my CPU temp, I don't have the software to check (or if you don't need any software I just don't know how), but my CPU usage is at averaging 65% and GPU temp. is at 57.0 while having Far Cry 3 and Google Chrome running.

OK cool, I will try installing the beta version, thanks a lot! I'll let you know if this gets rid of the stuttering.

One thing that really helped my FC3 performance was enabling constant voltage within MSI AB. Without it I was getting noticeable stutter when moving around. Also, make sure that you're not accidentally running the game on borderless. If you alt+tab out of the game and then go back in the game will automatically switch to borderless mode, which looks identical but performs drastically worse.

Hope this helps. Don't be afraid to turn certain settings down either to improve smoothness. The game looks gorgeous even on medium settings with AA disabled.

Keep in mind too that FC3 won't run perfectly smooth no matter what system you run because it's not properly optimized. However you should be able to get it to the point where any kind of stutter or hitch is barely noticeable and happens infrequently and your overall game experience isn't affected.

Thank you ibycfota for answering. What version of MSY AB should i get? I installed 2.3.1, should I tick the box that says, "Force constant voltage" that is in the general tab? There is also "Unlock voltage control" and "Unlock voltage monitoring" which are not ticked.

I don't know which specific model you have but assuming the card can be voltage unlocked I would go ahead and check that option in MSI AB (2.31 IIRC is the latest non beta version). It's not necessary for the purposes of enabling constant voltage, but it'll allow you to get higher overclocks if you're interested in maximum performance. As long as you watch your core and VRM temps it's perfectly safe to increase the voltage, although I'd stay below 1.3 to be on the cautious side. Look up some overclocking tutorials through google for more info if you're interested.
