Watercooling a GTX660

Hello,

I am currently in the process of helping a friend attach my old Kuhler 920 to his GTX660. He's already had a go attaching it to his HD4850. However, we were wondering whether there will be any problems with this, as the GPU fan header is miniature, and the Kuhler's motherboard connector is obviously too big.

So, in essence, what will happen if we leave the GPU fan header with nothing plugged in? Will we get endless warnings about 'No Fan Enabled'?

Also, is it worth cutting a section out of the reference GPU covering, and routing the pipes through that? Would that enable better cooling for the VRM, like in a Hybrid Cooler?

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards
Luke

I see your point, but the GTX660 in hand is a KFA2 One, and it is loud and hits 77C load at an ear-shatteringly loud noise.
