Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me with this one as it's driving me mad!

I've recently purchased a Satellite A500 17X from a friend at work. As it has the standard 4gb, I have gone out and purchased 2x4gb in order to upgrade. The problem here is that the laptop is simply not booting up with any other RAM sticks in place. I've spent over £50 and took the first set back as I assumed there was a problem with them.

The specs of the sticks:

PNY 4GB
DDR3 8500
1066 MHz

If anybody can help me out here I'd be very grateful!

Thanks.

http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-a500-17x/
standard : 4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB
maximum expandability : 8,192 MB
technology : DDR3 RAM (1,066 MHz)

Laptops are particular about they type of ram installed, if you've still got the original sticks, note the information label and add it here.

Hi, thanks for the replies!

I'm currently at work and unable to get that info right now but I do know the part number for the sticks I've bought:

Part No : SODI104GBN/8500/3

I would imagine these to be compatible but I'm not having any joy.

Last night I managed to get it booted using one of the original 2gb & one of the above. I ran CPU-Z which recognised both sticks, however the speed everything was running at indicated that it was only using the 2gb. It then also affected the GPU as NVidea stopped working for a few seconds.

All I get is a black screen with one or both of the 4gb installed, the originals work straight away. Can't get my head round this one! Help greatly appreciated.

Hi TenPC. Thanks for trying to help with this.

The original 2gbs read:
K000085840 WK942T
Y5F942103061 PK0530010A0

The housing has a sticker:
2GMFG:938
KSKAA L02
46178151L02

I just tried again there. It started to boot this time but gave a BIOS type screen advising "resource conflict - allocation error static node # 0D"

It ran through all the system specs and did state 8100+mb next to memory - It definitely recognises it but just doesn't seem to boot.
