So with RTW2 coming out in a few months I got excited and re installed the old version from 2004 on my new computer. I put all the settings as high as they would go and was super disappointed when some of the larger battles started to get choppy, I thought my computer would dominate that old game.

So it got me to thinking, with the new one coming out (huge deal for me) I wanna be able to experience it with my computer able to run it smoothly on higher end settings.

Upgrade time. I just recently got a 7950 gpu and so I'm thinking the processor may be the problem, but I'm not sure. Here are my specs...

dell studio xps 8100 (mostly just the box and the processor are still stock)

intel core i7 860@ 2.8 ghz

8 gig ram

sapphire hd 7950 gpu

600 wat psu

Can anyone toss up some advice on where my system is weakest as far as gaming? Is it my processor that should be upgraded? I was looking at the intel core i7 3770 3.5, would this be a significant upgrade? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated :) thanks.

And when you said "motherboard, lga1155" lga1155 refers to a type of motherboard? They arent seperate components? Also, OEM windows license? Does this mean I would have to purchase a new copy of windows?

OEM windows is what comes with Dell. The license is tied to the motherboard and strictly speaking is void if you change the board although it is not unheard of that people have called MS and got reactivation on a different motherboard.
LGA 1156 is your current motherboard CPU socket, LGA 1155 is the socket that I7 3770 uses.
