steam is gone

I had a problem and steam is gone altogether. I have several games ans dollars invested and need that to be reinstated

Download the Steam client, install it.
Log in to your account, and you can download/reinstall anything in your library.

Why/how did this happen?

I thought I'd fix another problem witht he Lenovo rescue but it wiped out every thing as if it was the first install. I thought I'd backed up every thing but can't find it to reverse it back.

I can't access support as it says my email is already in use. They redid it once before when It crashed.

Sounds like you are trying to create a new account and the email is already part of an account. All you should have to do is download/install steam, then use your email and password to login.
