Should I get a good cooler for AMD FX 8350

Hey all,

So within the next 2 weeks or so I am going to get a AMD FX 8350. One thing I'm unsure of is if I should stick with the stock cooler or not. I hear it takes up a lot of power and can sometimes run a little hotter then normal, so should I get a separate CPU fan, or just stick with stock?

If you think I need a separate one, let me know what would work best. Thanks! :D

Edit: I plan to use the CPU for livestreaming and video recording, but I will not OC it.

  1. You'll only need an aftermarket cooler if you plan to overclock it.

I have the FX8350 and the stock cooler is useless, get an aftermarket cooler even if your not going to overclock.

Get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO , just make sure it fits in your case ^

I edited the post with what I'd want it to do. Because streaming etc makes the CPU hotter then just gaming, will the stock cooler still work fine?

I've got a full sized tower, should work fine. Ty :D
  5. Read my post above ^
  6. Your very welcome enjoy your streaming! :D
  7. I run my FX-8350 @stock with the stock cooler just to see if there are any temperature issues. The maximum temperature I ever got to see it running at (in AIDA64) was 62ºC.
The lowest temp ever was 28ºC.
I also own a Scythe Katana 3, which I'll soon install and see how much of a difference it makes. Now, even if the FX-8350 would run just fine with the stock cooler, I would recommend getting an aftermarket one.
The CoolerMaster 212EVO should be good.enough for the FX-8350:

Depending on your case design, you might want to check this cooler out:

If you really want an ice-cold FX-8350, I'd go with this:

  8. I run my FX8350 at 5.1 ghz.\1.384 volts on this AIR setup:

Phanteks PH-TC14PE with Scythe Slipstream 110 CFM fans attached.
  9. @SR-71 Blackbird: what case fans are those? Looks like Cooler Master R4 SickleFlow Green?
  10. Cooler Master R4 SickleFlow Green < Yes 4 of them 1 rear exhaust,2 top exhaust,1 bottom of case near PSU as exhaust.

Also 2 XIGMATEK Green LED 120's in the front of case as intake.

2 Scythe Slipstreams on the Phanteks heatsink push\pull
