Hello,
So I am in the process of finalizing my first gaming PC. I want to get this right so I don't end up wasting money later on when I upgrade.

Here are the parts:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $309.99

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing $29.99

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H ATX LGA1155 $134.98

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $67.16

Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" SSD $109.99

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $66.61

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 4GB $510.10

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower $99.99

Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition 63.5 CFM 120mm
$14.99

Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition (2-Pack) 63.5 CFM 120mm $26.98

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $19.96

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) $93.31

PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
($169.99 @ Newegg)

Security Software: Titanium Internet Security (3-User) (1-Year Subscription)- Mac/Windows ($49.99 @Best Buy)

Wireless Adapter: Asus PCE-N15 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 $26.97

TOTAL: $1,704.03

I would be OC my CPU to a 4.0GHz. I know I could easily go higher, but I want to play it safe. Just a side note, I know that an i7 is not helpful with gaming, but I wouldn't be only using this for gaming.

I would also be upgrading many parts of my PC too later on. Here are my upgrades for later on:

5) Monitor Upgrade (Buy 2 More): Asus VH236H 23.0" Monitor ($157.58 @ Newegg)

3) Mouse Upgrade: Razer Mamba ($129.99 @ Razer Website)

2) Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth 2013 ($139.99 @ Razer Website)

7) Headset: Astro A50 ($299.99 @ AstroGaming)

1) Webcam: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 ($69.99 @ Amazon)

4) Graphics Card: Add a 2nd 680 4GB

7) CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHZ Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Micro Center)

6) Memory: Corsair Vengence LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($116.99 @ Amazon)

I ordered them in which I should buy.

Here are my concerns:

1) Will my upgrades work with my build?

2) Everything should work with and without the upgrades, correct?

3) Anything I should be nervous or aware of?

Thanks for any help! :)

Ok, great! Thanks for the help. Nothing should, theoretically, go wrong then?

Overall it looks good, I made a few changes:

670 matches performance of 680 within a few frames for 100 dollars less, 680 is a terrible buy.

If you plan to encode/render/etc then go with 16Gb.

Samsung 840 Pro is a reliable SSD.

Corsair Ax860i is a fantastic digital power supply, and platinum rated.

Go Norton 360, it's cheap on Amazon, and works well(or Bitdefender). Have not had a virus since early Windows XP using either.

Malwarebytes is a good option to go with anti virus too.

1. This is a good build and should benefit you overall.
2. Everything should work on this list.
3. Hyper Evo 212 is good for 4.2ghz safe.

Norton sucks it is a huge resource hog.. Why pay for antivirus when you can get it free.

For the GPU, I was debating on the 7970 3GB and a NVIDIA card. Wouldn't the 670 2GB be below the 7970 3GB? Thats why I went for the 680 4GB.

@Christtop

Resource hog, eh? No it's not, it barley uses any resources at all.

I don't mind paying for Norton or Bitdefender they are not that much money through Amazon, and I've never had an issue with them.

MSE is the only free anti-virus I would consider ever using though.

Anti-Virus isn't the best protection anyway in a way: a user with common sense is who doesn't download from suspicious sites or use those tiny .exe that appear to be one thing is.

@SIRmisterD

The 670 is actually on equal footing with the 680 within just a few frames most of the time(around 5% performance difference). The 680 for 100 dollars more is a terrible purchase.

Depending on the drivers you prefer too you can go with either Nvidia or AMD. The 7970 3GB has more raw performance, but a good card overall to choose. If you order through newegg you can probably get a pack of games free with it.

At 1080p either a 670 or 7970 will suffice, at higher the 7970 will be better. The 7970Ghz would be the best option for a fast card at a good price.

I just put together a build with a Gigabyte 7970ghz and I'm loving it. Got crysis 3 for free with it and it can handle it with everything maxed out on my tv 1080p running 45-58 fps. Great buy, much better in my opinion than the 680.

Thank you guys for all your help! I Think I have my build finalized now. I still want to keep the 680 though. I just feel that is the right card for me. Thank you for your concern on it as well since it wasn't listed. :)
