How to set up Eyefinity with 2 monitors?

have 2 monitors that I want to set up Eyefinity with. When I use Window's extend desktops everything works great. In order to use a higher resolution in games I need to create an Eyefinity profile.

I go into the Catalyst Drivers and go to the monitors section and create a group. It sees my 2 monitors, but when it is done it has the same image on both screens instead of 1/2 on 1 and 1/2 on the other.

What am I doing wrong?

My set up:

2x Radeon HD 6950 cards

1 monitor through HDMI port on the 1st card
1 monitor through VGA port on the same card

I did that several times. It just shows the same image on both monitors.

Same image meaning the same background or same image meaning that the icons, background, and taskbar are all being mirrored rather than spanning? Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything, just wanting to be sure, as I currently have my Eyefinity setup spanning 2 monitors without any difficulty.

I'm not offended, I appreciate your trying to help.

It is the exact same image (taskbar, icons, windows, everything) mirrored on the other monitor.

I was messing around with it some last night and changing the resolution did something. When I went into CCCC and changed the resolution to 1600x900 it worked. But the main screen only had about 2/3 of its screen being used, and the side screen had 100% of its.

I saw the option both in CCCC and Windows Resolution option to be 3840x1080 (and many resolutions between 1920 and 3840) but when I select any it would just go back to 1920x1080. The only one that would work is 1600x900. From my understanding you should be able to use the full resolution of both screens. Both of my monitors are Samsung S22B350H which are 1920x1080 resolution.

If you don't mind would you consider adding me on Skype so you can walk me through or TeamViewer to remote in?

I just got a Displayport to VGA adapter and hooked up a 3rd monitor. It's doing the same thing. All 3 monitors show the exact same image. I got it to work once at about a 2500x600 resolution, but that's ugly as crap. Then I got a BSOD.

I called AMD tech help. The tech walked me through the exact same steps I've been doing and nothing changed. Then he recommended I update Catalyst. I uninstalled all the AMD graphics on my computer and installed Catalyst 13.5 beta. Still nothing.

Yes the top one.
How do I find the Application Profile version?
No I have not removed the card. That would be a lot of work :( I haven't switched them.

Go to AMD's site, find the drivers for your card and OS
Gives you three options on the first tab: Catalyst Suite, Beta Driver, and CAPS

I don't know that the CAPS are going to do anything for you, but since things aren't working for you that should, I suppose it's worth a shot.

What about switching the cables? I personally have terrible luck with HDMI and Eyefinity, and VGA is always a weak link ... is there any way to switch them up at all?

Even if you don't remove the second card, you could always just pull the power cables from it.

Just tossing out different ideas and hoping one works lol

I updated to the newest CAP.

2 of my monitors have VGA and HDMI only. The other one has DVI. I could get a DVI to HDMI converter for the graphics card, but there's like 6 different types of DVI plugs and I have no idea which to get.

Ok today I just got my Displayport to HDMI active adapter just incase anyone at AMD tries to say i'm not using the right connections. Again my monitors work fine. When I go to Eyefinity they both show the same screen. i try to change the desktop resolution to 3840x1080 and it just defaults back to 1920 x 1080. Is there a setting wrong in my monitors maybe?

I got it working now.

After a 2nd call to Tech Support and verifying I have everything installed correctly the only option left was to reinstall Windows. I have messed with it over the last 1 1/2 years. I tried over clocking and installing all kinds of programs. I guess something was set wrong because now it works. I've been meaning to reformat anyway. xD

"2 monitors in eyefinity is pretty much pointless.. anything in the center of your screen will be obscured by your monitor bezels."

2 Monitors is not really pointless, if you're using Projectors you have no Bezel and ideally you have far less Fisheye.
