I have a newer build using an AMD A8-3870K with the apu Radeon 6550D. I have an ACER monitor (22 or 24" I think). Anyways, everything has been running fine, and then I had a game that required a lower resolution than the 1900x1080 that I had always run at. I was able to find one resolution (1280xsomething) that worked, but every other resolution that I switch to causes the screen to go all garbled to the point that I can barely see where the REVERT button is to switch back to my workable resolution. Should I get a new off-chip video card to see if that fixes the problem, or is it a possible monitor issue or ??? I use an HDMI cable to hook up the monitor.

I'm not sure what other info would be helpful, but let me know if need some other info. (running Win7...8GB mem)

Thanks

LCD panels aren't really meant to run non-native resolutions. It will look like crap. you should be able to adjust the width etc in the control panel, but if you're running a game so old it doesn't support a standard resolution. You're better off to just run it in windowed mode

I started out changing it in the game, and that didn't work, which I wasn't too concerned about, but then I tried changing it in Windows control panel, and it gives the same garbled look that I was getting in the game. Like I said, I found one lower resolution that worked, but the game can go as high as 1600x900 or something, so I would like to go higher than the 1280xsomething that I was able to get to work.
