So right now I have a AMD A6 3620 APU which is a quad core 2.2 GHz processor. I just recently bought a new video card, the evga gtx 660 ti 2 gig super clocked. I want to know, will upgrading to the AMD A8-3870K 3.0ghz significantly improve fps with games like battlefield 3 or crysis 3? And if you can tell me how many more frames I would be gaining that would appreciated too.

You would probably get slightly better frame rates, but that's an APU, not a dedicated CPU. I would not recommend buying a 3870k and instead save up for something from Intel's i5 series (3570k for example) unless you don't want to overclock, get something like a 3550 and boost your FPS by ~20. Or you could purchase an FX series CPU form AMD. It's your call, but an APU upgrade would be pointless and you'll be bottlenecking your 660ti.

Okay thank you mclovits and ur6beersaway. I have read that it would bottleneck my 660ti so I been hunting for days for the right AMD mobo so I can go ahead and buy AMD's FX 8350. This is the first time I will be installing a new mobo and I been doing research on this and found out I would have to reinstall my windows 7. Problem is my windows 7 was pre-installed and is a oem. So now I have to buy a OS as well which completely throws off my plans on getting a new mobo and processor this week.

Check ebay or craigslist for a copy of Windows if you need one. Companies also have enterprise editions of Windows that all use tehe same code, I;d poke around and see if you can't talk to someone who might be able to get a cheaper copy, if not, you might just have to save up. bear in mind you could get a little $ by selling your current parts to help pay for it.
