I just built my new rig. At first I had a Gtx 660 then I returned it looking to buy a 7950 because they had the never settle promotion and i wanted the games in it. Should I buy a 7970 now or should I wait? My system consists of
-i5 3570k overclocked to 4.2
-An 850 watt power supply
-16 gb of ram

Or should I wait for the nvidia gtx 700series and by the 780

I plan on playing games such as bf4 (when released) crisis 3 ,bf3, and bio shock infinite

More about : 7970 wait 8000 series nvidia 700 series

Best time to upgrade is the time you can't play the game in frames rate you wanted with the desired graphic setting you need. When you upgrade buy the latest weather nvidia or ati. They have their pro and cons but it is another Pepsi Coke issue

For my requirement GTX 660 Ti is fine though i end up in GTX 660 because that what i can afford. I will sacrifice certain setting in order to gain my fps. The fps i needed for my taste. I don't want fall below 30fps at any given situation.

The next round of new cards isn't expected until late this year or early next. If your system needs an upgrade, do it now. I too went AMD for the games. (And eyefinity.) Wait another 8mo and risk losing those games? Pass.

New PC components will be released all of the time. You cannot spend the whole time waiting for the next best one otherwise you will never actually have a PC to play games on. Get the 7970 and all the games that come with it, and just enjoy it.

The 7970 and 7950 are legit cards!
