Needing some help - low budget build

My computer just died on me and I'm pretty well flat broke, so I'm currently working on building the best computer I can build without much money. I'm Getting stuck on a few things and could really use some advice, though. At the moment, I'm looking at 2 possibilities for CPU/Motherboard combination:

CPU: AMD A6-5400K Black Edition
Motherboard: ASROCK FM2A55M-DGS

or

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K Black Edition
Motherboard (confused on motherboards for this, choosing between 2)
ASUS M5A78L LE
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

Obviously, I can go cheaper but I'm trying to ensure that I can still do certain things... I have 8 GB Ram that needs to be supported, a 650w Power Supply, Windows 8 to support and I have a fondness for DDO, Civ 5 and a few other games. I'm working to make sure I can still do these things with decent to good performance for as little money as possible. Unfortunately, my knowledge and understanding are very limited and all the specifics are kind of drowning me in a sea of "incomprehensible" information. I could really use an assist.

Feel free to suggest different motherboards and CPUs that are in similar price range and would serve my purposes.

I'll worry about a graphics card later, but for now a friend is giving me a GT 520 he has after upgrading his system...

Thanx in advance

go with the A6 if you don't plan on upgrading in the future cpu wise since AMD is trying to shy away from the F-line and go forward with AM3+. Reason for the a6 is because it's a apu, so you have a decent built in gpu that will play those games though on lower settings just fine. as for the athlon cpu you chose, that's also a FM2 socket, and the motherboards you listed with it are AM3+ so that wouldn't work out. the name of the motherboard usually tells you the socket aka "ASROCK FM2A55M-DGS" says its a fm2 board, and "ASUS M5A78L LE" though not directly is a am3+ board. If you already have a gpu then go with the quad core athlon with the fm2 motherboard you chose with the a6.

Wow... Feeling a bit stupid atm... I can't believe I posted the am3+ boards with that cpu... Anyway, thanx for the help, particularly considering the speed :)
