If your motherboard allows changing the baseclock of the cpu, you could try doing that. Otherwise, you can't overclock it.

By the way, just because the system requirements say 3.00GHz, that doesn't mean it won't run on 2.9GHz. Just try running the game.

You can not overclock it. Even if you could 100Mhz translates to about 1/2 frame per second. There is no way you would notice. Even with benchmarking software it would fall within the margin of error.

You would be better spending some cash on a new GPU as a 100mhz overclock won't make enough difference to make it worth it.

I would consider a new GPU to help boost some performance as overclocking here isn't worth it.

No it wont, will work without problems since you could run up to a r9 270x toxic without problems. If your mainboard can increase the BLCK of your CPU to 100-105 you can get around 200MHz or so but if the mainboard does not have this option you cant OC it even a little.

The mainboard I plan to use will be ASRock B75M-DGS, maybe someone might have it or done it before.

Increase BCLK at your own risk. It overclocks everything including USB and SATA and can damage components very easily. It should be set to 100 and left alone with Sandy and Ivy Bridge based systems.
