So - I posted my build a while ago but now it has changed somewhat -

So, here's the build....

Motherboard

ASRock H77 PRO4/MVP

CPU

i5-3570 3.4 Ghz Quad Core (not the unlocked version - no plans to OC as i'd rather not hurt the life of it in any way shape or form)

http://www.ebuyer.com/387254-intel-core-i5-3570-3-40ghz...

PSU

Corsair TX650

http://www.ebuyer.com/257232-corsair-tx-650w-psu-80plus...

GPU

Gigabyte HD 7970 OC edition (3x Windforce) 1000/5500

HDD

Seagate Barracuda 1TB

RAM

8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz

Optical Drive

LiteOn ihas124

This will be running a copy of Win 7 64-bit Ultimate that I already have.

I've removed the CPU cooler - no overclocking plans so I feel that the stock cooler + 2 side fans over the CPU on the case will dissipate enough heat.

I've also downsized the HDD to 1TB as that will be plenty for my needs currently.

And I've swapped out the Sapphire card at stock clocks for a factory OC Gigabyte version as it is cheaper, faster and has a better cooler.

I do however, have about another £90 in the budget to play with and I'm unsure of where to spend it. Any ideas?

I was thinking of maybe a Ghz Edition - but surely an overclocked HD 7970 running at 1000/5500 isn't far off a Ghz Edition?

Currently considering maybe a slightly better case & a TX750 for a bit more future-proofing insurance.

Looks like a good build. A 750W won't make you more future-proof because cpus and gpus consume less and less power nowadays. It might help if you plan to crossfire down the road though.

Besides, about overclocking, an i5-3570k can easily overclock to 4.2 without lots more heat, so if your only worry about OCing is about not shortening your cpu's life span, well it won't make a difference. I can overclock mine to 4.2ghz without touching voltage and with temps still way below recommended max temps. OCing could actually help make your cpu more future-proof by making it more on-par with future cpus. If you feel like it, you could get the k version now (and an aftermarket cooler) and only OC it some years down the road when it's needed.

You could also save leftover money for a ssd.

just my 2 cents

I have no plans for crossfire, i'll always run single card, single monitor.

I'm thinking I may swap the case for a HAF 932, or a HAF X if i can find one at the right price.

I strongly recommend the PC K-62 for a good case, 100$ on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112239&Tpk=pc%20k062&IsVirtualParent=1

It has 4 fans (2 on top, 1 front, 1 rear), anti-dust/removable/washable air filters everywhere air comes in the case, strong metal interior and sturdy design, no tools at all are required to secure your parts in the case. It's a bit large for a mid-sized tower, but the airflow is very good and so is cable management.

If you don't mind spending 200$ on the case, should as well go for the HAF X though!

Unfortunately here in the UK that case was out of my price range :( however I ordered a Corsair Carbide 300r, and will fit a couple of side intakes and a couple of top exhausts for extra air flow :) or maybe just one exhaust to create positive pressure.

The HAF 932 is too ugly :(
