Hi all, relative newbie here!
My computer doesn't boot up normally; gets past the first screen or two of information then stalls. However, if I go into the boot menu option when it starts, it gives me a list of boot options. If I select the right one of those, my computer boots fine (I'm using it now, even)
Is there anyway I can fix the BIOS or the whatever it is that's broken so I don't have to manually select my hard drive every time?
System details:
Windows Vista 64
Motherboard: ACPI x64
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad
Hard drives: 2TB WD (main one) and a 500GB seagate
Background to how the problem started:
My uncle's computer died, I was attempting to connect his hard drive to my computer to salvage his documents. I assumed, rather foolishly, that my computer would load as normal and I'd have access to the other hard drive, having done this sort of thing before. If something on his hard drive was corrupted, and my computer tried to boot from that, could it have changed something on the BIOS? Needless to say, his hard drive is no longer connected to my computer; everything is back where it should be.
