Installing Motherboard Drivers after Windows 7 Update

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on a computer that a friend is selling me. I didn't get the motherboard install disk, so I downloaded all the drivers. When Win7 announced that it needed to download a whole bunch of updates, I noticed that it had figured out I needed some drivers, so I let it update. Everything seems to be working well. System Information isn't reporting any problems devices.

Do I still need to install all those drivers? Will it cause any problems with Win 7? And does making a restore point save the state before the drivers or do I need to make a another complete backup first?

Windows 7 is generally good at finding and installing decent generic drivers for most devices automatically. If you have a discreet GPU installed though, it's best to get the most up to date drivers from either AMD or Nvidia, as this will be much better than the generic display drivers that Windows installs.

The BIOS software doesn't need to be reinstalled after an OS install either.

Can I just ad my two cents worth? If current hardware is working fine with existing driver, there is no need to update it. Indeed, it's unwise to do so.

The golden rule is to update a driver only if and when the existing driver (or the hardware it relates to) is troublesome.
In other words, If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Totally agree.
