Dell dimension 3000 pentium 4 with 512 ram trying to repair windows xp home. because its in the middle of repairing the OS i can't get to the desktop so there for no safe mode. part way through installing devices I get the BSOD error Bad Pool Caller and then it loops. I'm out of ideas, and cant find anything that can help me online. I have tested all devices. All have passed. There is nothing plugged into the motherboard but 1 cd drive, 1 dvd drive, 1 hard drive, and a dial up modem card. nothing new had been added to the computer. The computer recently was recovered from the white screen trojan.

If I were you I would remove all unnecessary components (you can always add them later), get rid of the CD drive, dial up modem card, if possible try a different piece of RAM for the install. If it fails again then see if you can boot using a Linux live CD, if that fails then try the same with the CD drive not the DVD drive, still fail... remove the HDD.

Hello,

It is fact that you cannot do anything when you receive Bad Pool Caller Windows 8. In fact it hinders you from doing anything on your system. However, you can resolve it by applying the tweaks given in the geeky article.

You can access that article from here: http://www.backspacetab.com/fix-bad-pool-caller-windows-8/
