Triple Monitor Situation

I recently had a triple monitor setup with 3 ASUS VE247H's. Two of the ones I bought recently had horrible colour and so I returned them.
Now that ive had time to think about it, I know for a fact I cant NOT go triple monitors ever again so Im looking to either go with:
3 ips monitors
OR
2 ips and a 120hz.
The dilemma is that I am an avid gamer, I spend 90% of my time on my PC gaming on FPS' (currently BO2 and BF3) with a 7950 that Im sure Ill crossfire. As im in full time education not enough money can be put into my rig at the moment to maintain 120fps at highest settings on new games so is 120hz pointless? Im thinking its a pretty "future-proofed" purchase since I dont think much will be released soon apart from 4k maybe.
Im also not sure if the one 120hz and two IPS' flanking will look weird since ill have two monitors with great colour reproduction and one with not-so-nice-looking colours. Has anyone got a setup like this?

Im bound to crossfire my 7950's soon....

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I don't think you understand exactly what 120hz gives you it does not effect the color at all.. That will be dependant on wether you have a nice panel or not IPS will give better color but a high end TN panel is not to bad either.. 120hz is just the refresh rate and is not really needed unless you plan on 3d in your future. I hear you might get a little less screen lag but I have not noticed this on my 3 screen setup of dell 23 inch tn panels.

I am 100% aware of what a 120hz monitor does. IPS monitors (most) have better colour reproductions than TN panels which is why I am asking whether or not it would look weird or irritating to have 2 ips panels flanking it.
Also, Im not looking for using it for 3D but for gaming as I will soon be able to hit 120fps

Hi there,
Thanks, for the suggestion but what i want is a 1080p monitor. Nothing lower or higher since a lot of power would be needed to drive games on a higher res screen at max settings. Also, 24 inches is my utmost largest screen size. I am wondering if one 120hz monitor and 2 ips monitors look bizzare together

I would get matching monitors. That is going to give you the best look across the 3 screens as well as the best compatibility in a Eyefinity setup. I have 3 Asus 27" monitors in my Eyefinity/Surround setup's and I could not see going down to a lower size after using these for more than 2 years.

If all of your monitors do not match it will be very obvious when you are gaming on them and I do not see that looking to good.

Oh no no, ill only game on the 120hz monitor which would be in the middle and id have 2 ips' flanking it for general things and movies.
What res is your 27"?

To answer your ? yess it will look a little off you will have to decide. I have a 4 screen setup 3 accross 1 above. The one above is a 1920x1200 IPS Apple Cinema screen and the picture is insanly better than the stock dell tn pannels. I like to put movies up there and such. That said it is not between my other tn pannels so not as noticeable. I would reccomend all three being the exact same screen myself but thi is just up to what works for you.
