I have a desktop that is having many issues. It's a Dell Inspiron 580 with 4X1GB 1333M DDR3 and a Core i3.
First things first, I just got an Orange screen of death (just a blank orange screen that I was unable to get out of except for a hard shut down). I used this awesome thing called Google to find out that indicates a GPU issue. The GPU is actually integrated, so it may indicate a mobo problem.
However, on subsequent boots, I was usually unable to boot (it would just turn off right after the lights and fan spun up). That made me think the PSU was possibly bad. When I was able to boot (rare) the OS would freeze up, regardless of whether it was a live disk or an installed OS. That made me think the CPU or RAM were bad.
So long story short, I suspected every piece of hardware to be bad. I was able to narrow it down to either the Mobo or the CPU by testing known goods. I'm leaning slightly more towards the mobo being the culprit, but I wanted some advice before I buy a replacement mobo and it turns out to be the CPU
