Yea, I agree with "anti-painkilla" I've never heard of anyone doing this either. As far as I know (and this applies to all Epson printers) You have to replace the ink with only the color and cartridge that was designed for that slot.
You can use aftermarket ink cartridges but, again it has to be designed for that printer model and that color slot.
The only way you could use all black ink is if you were to refill your OEM carts with all black inks (you would also need a chip resetter) or do the same with aftermarket refillable ink cartridges or CISS (continuous ink supply systems) w/auto reset chips.
I'm sure you have your reasons for trying this. If it is to save money, read my tutorial below in it's entirety. There are huge savings to be had just not the way your trying to do it (if that's your goal).
