My home-built PC was running flawlessly for 3 weeks but recently i have experienced some crashes where the whole computer will freeze and the sound freezes up, converging into a buzzing noise. No blue screen occurs and no error message appears on boot-up. Both crashes occurred when playing minecraft, while hosting a server on it with me and two friends online. I was running 'Feed the Beast' mod so it was quite demanding but i assumed my PC could run it. I had the same experience on an HP Pavilion desktop PC when playing League of Legends but every time it happened on that PC there was error message. Still haven't managed to fix that PC :/ ( can't be arsed). My system specs are as follows:

i5 3570K Quad Core 3.40GHz
Asus GTX 660(non-Ti)
2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Asus P8Z77-VLX
Corsair CX600 600Watt PSU
Windows 7(64bit) Home Premium
Zalman Z11 plus case
500GB WesternDigital Caviar Blue HDD

Just in Minecraft or under normal operating conditions as well, like playing iTunes? Does it do this while running other video games?

The buzz itself occurs frequently with any process. It quite commonly occurs in steam chat and skype where the sound of somebody's voice merges into the buzz due to a sound lag I guess. It also happens with videos (Youtube, Windows media player).
