Hi there !

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I have just build a new system and was wondering what drivers to install first, second, third, etc...
These are the components that I have:

Processor: i7-3930K
Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Deluxe
Graphics Card: XFX 7970 GHz Edition
Memory: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Hard Drive: WD 1TB Caviar Black
Monitor: Asus PB278Q
Case: CoolerMaster Cosmos II
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i
Power Supply: Thermaltake Grand Toughpower 1050W
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B5ST

I know that the order of the drivers matter, and don't want to mess anything up with my first build. :ange:

I would start with mobo drivers, then Catalyst for your GFX, then go to Device manager to see if there is anything else that needs drivers installing (exclamation marks show anything not installed correctly). Even if you miss something, after a few restarts Windows will most likely pick up any stragglers that would be missed.

Like the others said, do the motherboard first and then the GPU. The next most obvious is the network card. If you install the network or WIFI drivers, then you will be able to install everything after that and all the previous drivers may update themselves. Of course, Windows can't automatically install the other drivers unless it is online. I'd recommend that before visiting any non-microsoft sites, you install Microsoft Security Essentials, turn on your firewall, and do a quick scan on MSE. Then download the drivers and do the updates.

Just a small note on the point above. Personally, I disable antivirus when installing drivers, as on quite a few occassions the AV can mess with the driver install. Id recommend disabling when installing drivers, and when pc reboots it will automatically turn itself back on.
