So for a while i have been going on the internet and searching good builds for $3000 so i wanted you guys (who are infinitely wiser than me at these subjects) to rate my $3000 PC build

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Quad-Core Processor 3.6 GHz 10 MB Cache LGA 2011 - BX80619I73820 ( I don't know if any processors are actually better than this unless your editing videos or something like that)

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard (I like the BIOS on this thing a lot)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) (decided might as well go for 16 GIGS on a $3000 budget)

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN SuperClocked Signature 6GB GDDR5 384-Bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card 06G-P4-2793-KR ( Go big or go home)

HDD: Seagate Desktop HDD 4 TB SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST4000DM000 X2 (Gonna RAID 0 this)

SSD: Crucial m4 512GB 2.5-Inch (9.5mm) SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive CT512M4SSD2 ( I'm gonna move the boot drives and steam to this. Note: Might RAID 0 this later)

PSU:XFX 850w XXX Edition Semi-Modular Power Supply ( This comes with all the cables right?)

Optical drive (OD?): Asus Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-Ray Drive (BC-12B1ST) (Not much to say here just a blu ray drive)

Cooling system: Corsair Hydro Series H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH80) ( I decided to forgo a heat sync fan for an easy to install liquid cooling system.)

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series Black 800D Full Tower Computer Case (CC800DW) ( I know this is one of the most popular cases on the market and very easy to find tutorials for )

OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit (OEM) System Builder DVD 1 Pack

MISC: Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable Grounding,

Note: My budget is $3000 and that's around how much this costs on amazon (I'm going to use amazon because of their free super saver shipping in purchases over $25 ( In USA don't know about the rest of the world)) Also this is my first PC i'm building. I'm 15 and building this for my parents who think that it costs $3000 to run excel and word. However i am going to be gaming on this

Toodles

You could probably go for a K-series i7 so you can overclock it. If you overclock a CPU, you get even more value for money, but can't unless you get a K-series CPU (like the 3770K for example)

As you're not actually using quad-channel memory, I think the X79 platform is a bit pointless. If you used the Z77 Asus MAXIMUS V FORMULA ROG for example (which is pretty much the same price here in the UK), you would get more features than on the Sabertooth you planned. With that you can get a K-series CPU for the same price as the other one and overclock it using the competent cooling you have.

Basically, the Sabertooth has less features overall than the MAXIMUS V FORMULA ROG, unless you desperately want quad channel memory and a couple more...

Sorry if i am being a n00b this is the mother board you meant right? http://www.amazon.com/Maximus-FORMULA-Extended-SupremeFX-Motherboard/dp/B008CJ1KAA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367337781&sr=8-1&keywords=MAXIMUS+V+FORMULA+ROG

Also i went on yahoo answers and someone there recommended the mother board. Also i don't want to overclock

Here is the exact quote from yahoo answers
Well go with windows 7 pro x64 for more than 16gb ram in future.
I highly recommend you getting an i7 3820 and a sabertooth x79,because lga1155 is almost dead, and also that you can upgrade in the future, and it also support 64 gb instead of 32gb ram.And a couple of other advantages.

Also i was originally going to use the Z77

if you are gonna buy the i7-3820, three is practically no reason to get a water cooling. also don't get a 512 GB SSD. its kinda overkill. you can might as well save some cash and go with a 256 GB. i presonally recommend using corsair, antec, seasonic PSU's but XFX is also good.other than that its actually a nice build .on the scale of 1-10 im gonna rate it 9.and i am kinda envious of you as i am stuck with a 5 year old PC with not even a cheap GFX card :'(

So basically since i'm not going to overclock i can just keep all my current parts and it will be fine?

What are you trying to do, exactly? What's your monitor's resolution and refresh rate? How many monitors? What frame rates do you expect?

Lots of things in your build seem like overkill but will depend on the above answers.

Agree with the above - why have a nice machine and not overclock it (given that it's designed to do so)?

I am probably going to use 1 monitor although i'm considering 3 also i would want to play on the highest possible FPS and i actually don't know what monitor/keyboard/mouse i will be using although i imagine a 1920x1200 and 20" also i don't really know what refresh rates are

also i suppose i could overclock but i hear that is bad for your CPU

If you don't want to overclock then that system should be fine for you, though with that cooling it seems a bit of a waste not to overclock. The motherboard you linked seems to be right, the description says ROG in it.

It would gain you more features on the motherboard and save a bit of cash if you went for a 3770k and the maximus. But if you wanted to go for a six-core upgrade in the future or use quad-channel memory, then the X79 chipset is the way to go.

It's really up to you. If you did go for X79 however, I would recommend going for quad-channel memory to fully utilize the power of it.

its bad if you have a cheap cooling system. given that you have water cooling, overclocking should't cause much damage.

Ok so 4 8 Gig strips for 32 Gigs or 4 4 Gig strips for 16 GIGS?

4*4 gig strips. 32 gb will be overkill even for this build

Actually now I think about it, RAID 0 on a secondary storage would be a bit pointless as the SSD is holding most things. If I were you I'd go for RAID 1 and keep it all safe, as 4TB of data is a lot to lose if RAID 0 failed.

EDIT = I meant 8TB of data is a lot to lose

wait a minute i'm going with the ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77 Extended ATX DDR3 2800 PCIe 3.0 HDMI SupremeFX IV Audio Motherboard
Is that dual or quad channel?

Also i'm using liquid cooling so i don't need any thermal paste

actually you need thermal paste. because it helps transfer heat from the CPU to heatsink. without thermal paste your gonna fry your PC in seconds no matter how good liquid cooling you have. water just removes that heat like air does only more quietly and effectively. and also, all Z77 mobos have dual chanel DDR3 only X79 have quad chanel. hope that clears it.
