Having a problem with my graphics card (ATI 6770 1GB DDR5) So when my computer starts it start from DVI Output into windows 7 loads up until the blue screen with Welcome on it. just before it reaches that stage it stops working.

I have reinstalled chipset drives into the motherboard, and tried installing the graphics card drivers however the same problem still occurs. I reset the motherboard bios to default settings meaning it should use the graphics card out but this did nothing. I have had the actual graphics card checked and it works fine.

I can only get VGA output from it and this is really bugging me as i cant play games without the installed graphics card.

Also the Wireless LAN Card sits below it on the PCI Slot and that works fine, just nothing from the PCI-E.

Here are all my system specs.

ASUS M5A78LM L-X (motherboard)

ATI 6770 1GB DDR5 (Graphics)

8GB DDR3 (Ram)

AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz (CPU)

500GB SATA HDD (Hard Drive)

RALINK 802.11 Wireless LAN Card (PCI Slot)

And a bog standard DVD-R Drive

Any suggestions or fixes greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have the exact same problem with the exact same hard. only thing is, i tried an old geforce xfx 9500 and same thing happens. Also, i managed to bypaass the problem for a while by changing the internal graphic options in the mobo bios (section 2-13 - 2-14 of the mobo manual). Then, after a while, the pc would reboot, the cooler on the 6670 would start speeding up and neither the 6670 nor the internal graphics card would work. I solved this by turning off the pc, removing the 6670, rebooting, bios, resetting the graphics setting, changing them back so that the pcie16x would be the main one, attach the 6670 again and voila (the time i wasnt using the 6670 i used the internal graphics card, tho it wouldnt work with the 6670 still on. same problem with the xgx9500. same solution). Of course, then it happened again. Could this be a power sourse problem? maybe both our power sources are too small for our new hardware?

That is my suspicion here but I will suggest starting a new thread so we can take a look at your build specs and address your needs specifically
