Then download and run CPU stability test for 1 h and you know ......
Keep eye on the CPU temp and if you get more than 85 - 90 stop the test

I think thats a bit warm, personally.
I would want to check the paste before any big sessions
with x users, and make sure you have airflow ,thats a lotta muscle in that box.Intake and exhaust fans required, clean any filters.
you showoff.

I am a bit old school. I DO believe, Intel are leaving less headroom in there chips than they used to. Gone are the days of 50% overclocks. In the past, Intel chips held there value until
they suddenly became worthless, and some chips lived out 2 motherboards with sensible overclocks (you can still buy new 775 boards because of this). If you Believe a 22nm tiny process silicon chip can be over volted, overclocked and and run at 70 degrees and last, say. 6 years to really pay for itself, then by all means dont be concerned mr Ihog. It will run, there is no doubt about it.

The chip isn't overclocked. It turbo boosts to 3.9 GHz at stock.

And 70C is good for Ivy Bridge with the stock cooler. The TJ Max of Ivy Bridge is 105C.

Then I appologise fully and concur, to some extent. The stock speed isnt 3.9, it will boost to that if only one or two cores are in use (If there is thermal headroom). The poster wasnt clear , he said he was running at 3.9. My misunderstanding. I do, however, stand by what I said. Intel are no longer specking there chips to last 10 years, as the redundancy factor of more demanding software has ended for now. So pc's lasting ten years is bad news.Intel will only warrent that chip for 3 yrs. The statement ' Good for Ivy Bridge' says quite a lot about sales psychi. They say its good for 105, so you say thats fine then.
I dont know of any standard electronics component that is rated at that temp for long term use. Poster also said he had a freezer i3 cooler, can only assume thats aftermarket, not an i3 cooler, which is probably the same as the quads. In short, believe the hype if you want, but I think mid 60's is hot enough for a 300$ electronics component..
