Hey Guys,

I have got a portable USB 500GB HD that I use to plug into my samsung television to watch downloaded avi files.

I have no problem watching files on the television but when I plug it into the PC to add more files it does recognise it as an external drive but doesn't show space used or space available.
It also says that the drive must be formatted but the case would be it should not need to because it is usable with the television.

I believe this could be a boot sector problem or something to do with the boot table because I can find the files when I use TestDisk,

Any help please guys!

Solution
Your TV uses a file system that can not be read by windows and that is by will. It's the copy protection that prevents you from downloading movies to it and copying them to your pc. You may be able to copy files from an usb stick to it on the tv. Depends on the model.

Hi Anthony,
Did you get any solution to this? I am also having the same problem with my 1TB WD passport. It is working well on my LG smart TV but in windows/mac etc.. Please let me know if you have identified fix for this.

Thanks,
Senthil
