i5 3570k 4.7 ghz overclock

Hi. I have been fiddling with overclocking lately with my new build. I have managed to get 4.7 ghz by changing the voltage to 1.31v and the multiplier to 46. I used turboV Evo to do the OC. I was hoping to get to 4.8 or 4.9 though. i have tried to achieve this by upping my voltage incrementally. However I cant seem to get a stable oc. I have a H55 Liquid cooler, and my load temps at 4.7 ghz are in the high 50s/ low 60s.

The benefits you get by OCing this high are really marginal and so really not worth the high voltage/temps imho, though if you have money to buy a new cpu if your current one fails, then it's up to you. These kinds of OCs were easier with Sandy Bridge than they are with Ivy Bridge.

I ended up just taking it back down to 4.4ghz i was uncomfortable with the 1.31 voltage. im now OCed to 4.4ghz with 1.265 vcore. Temps are also much lower.

just stop there, pat yourself on the back, call it day and welcome yourself to the exclusive "stable and cool 4.5+ghz IB OC" club, which is all the more admirable when you do it with a so so CPU cooler. consider yourself really lucky, as most chips starts seeing really high temps when you raise the voltage in the 4.2-4.3 mark. i've only ever seen two others who've hit 4.6-4.7ghz here.

Good to hear that! I think you could be at 4.4ghz with a lower vcore though, I'd suggest trying to decrease it incrementally till you get unstable.

Hazle :

I wanted to check one more thing before i gave up all together. I dropped the vcore to 1.305, and upped my fan setting. now running around 55c max. I'm not going to use it all the time, but I may up it for video conversions. I get a 50-60 fps jump.
