Computer shuts off randomly

My Laptop (Toshiba Satellite C640) has been acting up lately.
Ok, first my battery is already dead (don't have a new one), so I use my laptop always connected to the ac adapter.
And, I just recently got my keyboard replaced because I accidentally spilt some alcohol on it.
That is not my problem, although it could have something to do with it.

My problem is that my laptop suddenly shuts itself down without warning. At first it was occasionally, then it became more frequently, until it mostly starts, shows windows logo, then turns off.
I mostly use this laptop for school, surfing the web and gaming.

Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I am only around 15 years old, so I'm kinda nervous about opening my only laptop, but your guesses of what the problem could be will be of much help
I suspect it could be overheating, because it's kinda hot here in my country.
If more details are needed I will be happy to oblige.

UPDATE: Ok, I forgot to mention that it won't turn on sometimes when it turns itself off. I need to wiggle the ac adapter first until the charging lights pop out to turn it on, though it usually shut itself off again.
But, sometimes when I am REALLY lucky, it works for a full game of League of Legends. When this happens I know it will power off eventually, so I quickly shut it down properly.

Yes, it is probably overheating. You need to blow some canned compressed air through the vents on the underside to remove dust caught in between the heat sink fins, and make sure the CPU fan is rotating. Cleaning out the air passages can make a huge difference.

I don't actually own a dog, (wish I did though) but thank you guys for your advice.
