Hello all! Ive recently bought and installed an i73930k with a corsair h801 to keep it cool. i noticed, that in the temperature monitors that ive tried, the h80i consistently shows 35-36 degrees, but my cpu is showing 45 degrees Celsius. is this because the h80i is showing the temp of the radiator? or is this generally the difference between cpus and heat sinks?

That's a great cooler, I'm quite fond of it myself.. :)
Both temperatures completely normal. Yes, it is indeed showing the temp of the radiator, and it should have a temp lower than the cpu as it is dispersing the heat generated and cooling the heated cpu.
So nothing to worry about mate. :)

of course, these are idle temps.. under load the cpu has gone up to 65 but ive never seen it go any higher, and usually its around 57 so yah this H80i seems to be a very efficient cooler indeed! i was just mostly curious as to the source of the lower temp, as it never really seems to change all that much. being in the mass liquid pool makes perfect sense tho, since it would take the longest to show any substantial increase in temp. thanks for your reply, Stefan, ive bumped it to best! +rep to you!
