Ok guys !
My older cousin has saved up a SIZEABLE amount and he wants me to select the components for an ultimate gaming/Video editing pc
One catch
Closed loop cooling system
So with this in mind I set out to select the ultimate parts
Here's what I got so far :
CPU : Intel core i7-3970X

RAM : 64GB CORSAIR VENGANCE
High performance ram @ 2100MHZ

MOBO :ASROCK EXTREME11-X79

GPU : 4 ASUS GTX titans
W/BACKPLATES

PSU : HERCULES.1600W platinum certified

HDD 2 x 4TV SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200RPM

SSD:
2 x SAMSUNG 840 Pro series 512GB
COOLING : Swift tech H220 W NOCTUA NF-F12 PWM

ALSO : 6 MORE NOCTUA NF A14-ULN 140MM FANS

SOUND CARD: ASUS ROG XONAR PHOEBUS

OS : WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64-BIT

OPTICAL DRIVE : SAMSUNG BLURAY DRIVE

CASE :900D ( when it comes out for sale )

3x 2560x1440 30 INCH MONITOR IN SURROND

Please tell me if there is anything I have missed
Note !
My cousin wants overclocked the CPU to at least 4.8GHZ
WILL THIS BE ACHEIVEABLE
OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS
Also I suggested an open test bench and have the cooling mounted specially
Thoughts on that.?

no. just no. spending half of that and he still wont be using the rig properly. budget, doesnt matter. after this mark, performance doesnt even increase. go build another rig with the money saved or donate it to charity

get this
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Udqn

-i7 3930k performs the same and overclocks the same for half the price
-closed loop coolers are crap, but this isnt really a closed loop cooler
-better board for half the price
-32gb of ram is more than enough. 64 is wasteful most of the time unless you are making a ramdisk
-ram speed is useless
4 titans dont perform better than 3 and even 3 is overkill. 2 is the highest id go, id start off with 1 though
-no one needs 1tb of SSD storage. if you do, you are putting too many programs on one system
-you can get cheaper SSDs than the 840 pro that perform similarly
-you are doing it wrong if you use 8tb of storage
-if your cousin speaks english, you dont need windows 7 ultimate. its a joke
-the 900D is overkill. you can fit it all within a mid tower

Ok
A few things
One !
He won't do custom cooling loop because he dislikes how annoying it is
2. Everything fits into his budget and I showed him the parts and he was pretty much over the top of joy for it
He's gonna be doing Intense video editing as he does it as a job
The things he does on his workstation at his work usually have the thing pinned down 100%
Plus he's doing multi monitor gaming
He wants to splurge so he's pretty much sat on these unless I've told him I've got something better. Ya ...

Also I'd like to mention that were in Australia .
No joke I spent the good part of 2 hours with him and he was competent with the parts
He's ordering them next week and he's possibly thinking of doing 6 monitors with the 4 titans
Is that possible ?

doesnt matter. all the parts you put together are a waste of money or they just dont do anything

nvidia doesnt run more than 3 monitors. go look at amd if you are into 6 panels. and if you are running 6 panels, when you play a fps game, the crosshair is the size of your head.

Ok man thanks ill try and convince him
If not then he's the person who uses it
I shall tell you the results in a few weeks and see if he's happy with whatever he got
Ps as I said he's doing heavy video editing
At work he has an i7-3960X @4.4Ghz with 32gb ram and a pair of ASUS DCU2 4gb in sli and he's got that pinned down.100 %

Note : he works for a small company who build their employees computers
Employees pick parts and half pay
Company pays other half
It's a good thing
So idk ...
He's not into the quadro stuff with programs cause he's a tard but I love him :\

well if hes not using a quadro card, he is doing something seriously wrong.

as for the i7 3960x (which is the same thing as the 3930k, just 500 dollars more), if he is pinning it down at 100%, its kind of normal. if he wants more power, he can move to a 8 core xeon. it wont overclock, but more threads can help. thats about as much as id change in the system i provided

My cousin is final
Though he's going with a test bench style pc
He's gonna have a cooling solution he saw on YouTube which. Involved 40 corsair fan
Except he's gonna use these : http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_598&products_id=22577
I cannot do anything to change his descicon
He's also going to spend another boatload on a pc with the proper professional graphics
So I guess he's just gonna use this one for gaming and editing some smaller stuff
I honestly cannot believe him
Well
Thanks for the opionions guys

If he has out grown the 3960X, then why build the same thing...?

As was said earlier, I would be looking in to more CPU power. What about a dual XEON setup? You will get more use out of that then quad Titans... Also I am not sure what programs he uses, but there are a lot of workstation cards out there designed for these kind of uses. I would do some research and see what will benefit him the most.

Obviously budget isn't a concern so you may as well build something that is an improvement over what he has now.
