1920x1080(native resolution) is gone. max resolution became 1600x1200 and native resolution became 1024x768. and when i create custom resolution of 1920x1080 and applied it, the resolution is like zoomed in and the display is cut. And when i go to scaling mode, the option for Graphics card scaling is gone, only the display(TV monitor) scaling is left. When it was still fine, i can switch to graphics card scaling or display scaling, now only the display scaling is left. But it detects my video card, and i can still play games with high graphics. but not in hd resolution anymore, only 1600x1200 is max. and when i choose 1600x1200, the screen is stretched out. i tried to re-installing the graphics drivers, update it to newest drivers, but the problem is still the same. And i know it's not a software problem, because when i start my computer, the screen is already cut. then when the OS loads, it goes back to fullscreen(1600x1200) but stretched out. i also tried connecting the VGA connector( yes, i'm using a vga connector) on the motherboard, and still the same problem. But when i connect it to my laptop, it works just fine. but that laptop doesn't have hd resolution. the tv monitor does have hdmi connector. i'm using a windows 8.

Did you use the graphics driver from the laptop manufacturer's site or the ones from the graphics card manufacuter's site? Sometimes it's best to get the one's from the laptop manufacturer's site because they customize them for your individual hardware.

That would be correct some laptops will not work with the default drivers from Nvidia or AMD/ATI but some will it just depends on the laptop. It would help to know what laptop make/model you have.

i'm not an expert but, seems like the problem is the vga cable or some wires or the monitor itself. i'll go try to buy a hdmi cable and see if the problem is fixed. and i'm using a PC not a laptop -_-. my power supply is also up. my pc always restarts, especially when i started to play games. the other wire is cut off and not working, it got burnt. luckily i can still turn on my pc and type this. And then this problem came up, hd resolution GONE the last time it restarts. going to buy a new power supply too.
