Hey guys,

Just a really quick question. I'm getting rid of my current cheap rubbish power supply and replacing it with something a bit more reliable. Whats a good 450-500w PSU thats built well and is reliable? I would prefer if it had 80+ efficiency as well, although i'm not bothered about which type if you know what I mean.

Thanks guys

Andy

I would look at the Rosewill Capstone 450w, which comes in both modular and non-modular forms. Both are 80+ Gold rated
modular: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182261

A cheaper alternative would be the Corsair CX-430M, which is bronze rated and has decent review, but it is the smallest/cheapest in Corsairs lineup. Its decent quality but not like their HX or AX line. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049&Tpk=cx430m&IsVirtualParent=1

IF you don't mind dropping to 400W, this PC Power and Cooler Silencer Mk III is good too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703034

If you don't mind non-modular and jumping up to 500W, this Fractal Design bronze certified Integra R2 is very good, with awards for its 750W big brother from Tweaktown and Hardware Secrets.

Modular PSU have some or all of their cables detachable, so that you only use the cables you need. With non-modular PSUs, all of the cables are attached, and if you aren't using them, they have to be stuffed somewhere in the case out of the way.

Also, if you look at the pictures for the two Rosewill Capstone PSUs I linked above you'll see how the cables are removable.
